A nice place in Bihar, having equidistributed weather across the year with very low temperature variance. In winter [Hindi month Poos] temperature comes down to 6-8oC and in summer [Hindi month Jeth or Jaishta], it is 42-45oC. Humidity is almost 90% in spring and 50-70% in other months.

Culture

Mixed. As derived by its name, Patna Sahib, it looks like a place for Sikh people. But this place keeps as many as hindu and muslim peoples as Sikh peoples. However, this place is called as [Patna Sahib]. Because, Patna Sahib is the birth place of Guru Govind Singh, 10th and the last Guru of the Sikhs. To have respect to Guru Ji, Patna City has been renamed to Patna Sahib.

Location

It is situated 12KM east to Patna, Capital of Bihar. North land is fenced by revered River Ganga. South Part is surrounded by famous NH-31[GT Road]. It has its own Railway Station named Patan Sahib railway Stataion.

History

Patna City was named as Patliputra in ancient time. King Chandragupta Maurya, Samrat Ashoka were the great rulers of those times.

Education

Patna is very near to Patna Sahib. This gives benefit to Patna Sahib in terms of better education. Study materials, Colleges, Coachings and well learned teachers. Literacy rate is above 80%, which is much higher than that of the state's average literacy rate of 63%.

High Schools

Few government approved high schools are
Marwari High School - This is the best government boys high school of Patna City providing education from 6th to standard 10th. It is on the edge of Chowk - Chowkshikarpur road distanced approx 100m from Chowk, Patna City. Students of all parts of Patna city prefer this school which has a capacity of 600-700 per class with 5-6 sections(A to F) encapsulating 100-150 each. This school has a small space inside its campus for small spaced games like Kabbaddi etc. However, students prefer Mangal Sarovar Field(Renamed as Ram Kamaliya Stadium in 2009) for Cricket, Football, etc. To get admission, one has to clear an entrance examination, scheduled in December month by school authority.

Jalan High School - Located exactly at the center of patna sahib, near kaua kohl. Jalan school has a primary school, a high school and also provide 10+2 level education. In 1980s, Jalan school was most strict high school of patna sahib. The glory and reputation of Jalan high school get dimmed with time with respect tp other schools of patna sahib.

Places to visit

Almost all places and buildings get ruined with time but the few. Those few are Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Sahib, Guru ke Baag and others. In the midst of heavily crowded area, these places kept themself in better shape than they were in past. Objects having attractions have been detailed below.

Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Sahib

Cleanest place in Patna Sahib. It is the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and constructed by maharaja Ranjit Singh in around 1800.

Gandhi Sarovar or Mangal Talab

This is a very big pond with a circumference of almost 1 and 1/2 kms. Recently, the sarowar has been fenced with cemented walls and four staired Ghat has been created at the four corners. Two big light bulbs has been settled at two ends. You might have good time here in night as well with looking fishes and snakes around the sarovar.

Ram kamaliya Stadium

A small stadium aside Gandhi Sarovar, inaugrated in 2009 with a staircase audience seating place of capacity around 500. The only thing, this stadium has washed out was a small garden touching the Sarovar. Each and every inch of the small, very nice Garden has been destroyed to create this stadium. The Garden was having one old Peepal tree, one big tamarind tree, one water storage, many type of flower plants, one water fountain, many other trees surrounding the garden and one Gandhiji statue. The only thing remained is Gandhiji statue.

Guru ke Baag

Situated almost 3 kilometers from Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Sahib and one kilometer from Bazar Samiti. This garden was once a kind of dead but turned into a green grove after 9th Guru Sri Tegbahadur Ji's spent few day while travelling from Asam to Patna. This garden gets the name "Guru ke baag", because the owner of this garden gifted this to the Guruji.

Jalan Buildings

Its in the middle of Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Sahib and Guru Ke baag. All buildings are just as it was and hardly there is any repairings done. A high school named as Jalan High school runs in these buildings. With time this will be the first old thing Patna Sahib owns, will be lost if not taken care properly.

Bazaar Samiti

Its a place to hold and trade place for all Patna Sahib and nearby locations.
